Middle School Student Computer Skills Enhancement Project

an after school computer training program for south Maui's 8th grade students

Students entering high school are expected to use a computer and the Internet to complete homework assignments and projects. However, some students do not have the opportunity to learn more than very basic computer skills.

In this free after-school program, selected students receive 12 hours of technology training. Students will learn software applications that are free to use or install on their home computers so they may continue to use them after these training sessions.

The goals for this program are to better prepare south Maui's middle school students for high school and to:

  • increase their technical skills in the use of computers, software applications and online services
  • enhance their information and communication skills through the use of technology
  • produce creative tech products, such as a video, an online map, a screencast, an animated comic strip, a multimedia digital poster and a website, that convey their understanding and knowledge of concepts that are important to our community and our environment.
  • This program is made possible through a generous grant from the MEDB Ke Alahele Education Fund. Mahalo!
